The first question which would come to mind is what would make a car quick. The second would be which are the best fast cars in the world today? The first questions would need an answer before you could answer the second question.
The best answer to the first question would probably be as manifold as you can get. It has to do with horsepower, torque, the engine capacity, the aerodynamics, the added wind resistance body work, the weight and so forth. To pit them together for comparison, you would need to have them all in their raw form (nothing added to make them faster).
Some of the top production models, in this category, are the Bugatti Veyron, the SSC Ultimate Aero TT, the Saleen S7, the Koenigsegg CCX, and the McLaren F1 to name only a few. There is no need to even question the fact that the Bugatti Veyron tops the list.
Right now this is the car that every man (and every right thinking woman) would want to own. It is the most elegant of fast cars. This car reaches a top speed of 253.2 miles per hour (407.5 km/h), but can be faster. The speed is, however, monitored electronically so that no tire damage can occur.
You can imagine that it would be extremely heavy on fuel consumption. Because of its incredible speed it needed to be supplied with a hydraulic rear spoiler which gets lowered and raised as the speed varies. One more addition is that this great car, with its sixteen cylinder, V8 engine, is the most expensive car in the world.
Another car which can be highlighted the Koenigsegg CCX. This Swedish built car has been seen as one of the fastest cars in the world, but failed to perform to its reputation as it became very hard to handle at its top speed of approximately 250 mph (400 km/h). It needed to be modified with a rear spoiler to improve its aerodynamics. However, it still remains a super car with its V8 engine and 4700 cc capacity. As with all of these, be sure that you will have to fill her up more often than not.
