The second night of the Fred Brownfield Memorial was always going to be a hot night of sprint car racing. After a successful previous night, which saw Seth Bergman win his heat race and finish sixth in the A-Main Seth found himself 3rd in points after night one of sprint car racing. A rough pill draw saw Bergman starting tenth for his heat race. Seth was able to get by fours drivers in his heat and this enabled him to start fifth for the main event. Bergman had given himself every chance for a strong finish in the A-Main.
The B Main saw Travis Rutz, Jason Solwold, Jay Cole and Henry Van Dam advance to the feature main event. Before the main event drivers entered the race track through the stands through thick fog of smoke which brought the fans to their feet before the main race.
Seths team went into the main event with a new setup and where confident of a strong performance.
Seth was going to be in for a tough night of sprint car racing with the likes of Shane Stewart, Wayne Johnson and Jayme Barnes close to the front as well as Roger Crockett on the pole. Bergman started the race in the fifth position with ASCS North West points leader Jared Ridge on his outside.
Bergman couldn't have asked for a better started has he passed Olson and Malsam on the first corner to quickly move up into third before a caution came up for Dan Dunlap after the first lap.
On lap four Seth was passed by Jayme Barnes and as the race settled down Seth began his battle with Jared Ridge as both traded places in the early going.. On lap nine the defining moment of the race took place and as it turned out possibly the season as Bergman and Ridge tangled going into turn one. causing Ridge to end up in the wall.Bergman suffered a broken right rear shock due to the collision. Ridge was visibly upset as he got out of his car and threw his steering wheel at Bergman as he circled by.Fans showed their disliking towards Ridge as booed echoed from the stands.
Seth headed to the pit area and Ridges crew headed over to confront Bergman. A member of Ridges team pushed and shoved with Seth's father as he felt Seth was to blame for the wreck.. Seths team tried to repair the damage but time had run short and for Seth the night was over after a promising start.
